SAVANNAH, Ga. — A massive Great White shark has recently been tracked off the coast of Georgia.
WJCL-TV reports that OCEARCH, a nonprofit that tracks sharks, tracked the shark named Ironbound just northeast of Hilton Head Island on May 18, and just a week earlier it pinged off the Georgia coast just south of Savannah.
The group says the shark is about 12 feet long and weighs about 1,200 pounds.

The TV station said that Ironbound was tagged by OCEARCH near Nova Scotia in 2019 and they have been tracking the Great White ever since.
According to data from the group, Ironbound has traveled 15,000 miles between Nova Scotia and the Florida Keys since being tagged, WJCL-TV said.
