DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A missing 81-year-old grandfather from Douglas County was found dead Tuesday afternoon.
Winfred Bryson Floyd had been missing for nearly 24 hours when he was found by a group of searchers.
Floyd, who was in the early stages of dementia, was last seen leaving his home on Windy Valley Drive on Monday around 2 p.m. He left home with only his cell phone.
Windy Valley Drive is in the heart of Douglas County located between the Highway 5 and Chapel Hill Road.
Family members searched late into the night Monday, but had no luck.
"We were out until around 2:00am searching the power lines near the house where his phone last pinged. We just need prayers and people to help search," his daughter, Staci Floyd Mims, posted on Facebook.

Tuesday afternoon, GEMA joined dozens of law enforcement officials and community members in the search.
"We've used everything from horses, dogs, motorized vehicles, people on foot," Sgt. Jesse Hambrick said.
