Meth, cocaine, cash seized outside elementary school in Cobb County

Two men arrested outside Cobb County school accused of having drugs, cash

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Meth, cocaine and bundles of cash were seized outside an elementary school in Cobb County.

Marietta police say they found it in a car with two men: Christopher McMutry and Brandy Billups.

An officer pulled the car over Friday afternoon after he saw the driver swerve on Sawyer Road near Sawyer Road Elementary School, which is part of Marietta City Schools.

Police not only found a significant number of drugs, they also discovered bundles of cash.

"I guess I'd have to wonder about my kids' safety if they were over there," said neighbor Mina Senegal.
According to an arrest warrant, officers seized $2,000 cash in the amounts of "$100's, $50's, $20's, $10's, $5's and $1's."

Police said that’s consistent with street level drug distribution.

“Who knows what else they were doing, like if they had guns, or whatever, threatening people or stealing money,” said neighbor Kate Askew.

Cops didn’t find a gun on the suspected dealers.

Askew told Channel 2 Action News it's more important than ever to warn young children about the dangers near their schools, even on summer break.

“Just like we coach them on child predators. We have to coach them on drugs and alcohol. And people trying to get them on drugs,” Askew said.

Both men are at the Cobb County jail without bond. They're facing several charges, including possession of drugs near a school.
