LOS ANGELES — The “American Idol” judges selected the top 24 but with a few surprises as a Georgia woman won a sing-off for a spot in an expanded top 26.
Megan Danielle, 20, had to fight for her spot during the second night of the showstoppers round Monday night on Channel 2.

Megan, who is from Douglasville, sang Adele’s “Easy On Me” and nailed it.
Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan all said yes saying she has the talent but just needs to believe in herself.
“Listen, I’m gettin’ emotional talking to you about how wonderful your voice is, you understand?” Bryan told Megan.
“To make it in the top 24, I think I’ve proven I’m suppose to be here,” Megan said.

The other Georgia hopeful Sarah Mac didn’t make the cut. Neither did Kya Monee from Texas.
Monee was cut from showstoppers last year and was cut again this year. Last year, she was partners and became best friends with Georgia’s Willie Spence who died in a car crash last October.
Next week, Megan and the other semifinalists head to a Disney resort in Hawaii to sing in front of a live audience.
For the first time this season, America will also get to vote.
“American Idol” airs Sunday and Monday night at 8 p.m. on Channel 2.
