Microsoft Corp. is expanding its presence in metro Atlanta. The software and technology giant announced Friday it is opening a new facility in midtown.
The company will have a 523,000 square-foot facility in the Atlantic Yards complex at Atlantic Station. Microsoft is investing $75 million that will create 1,500 new jobs.
“We are excited that a global leader like Microsoft Corp. is expanding its investment in Georgia with tech jobs that will be truly beneficial to the company and our state,” Gov. Brian Kemp said. “I am confident that our top-notch tech talent and education pipeline will continue to be an asset to Microsoft. We are laser-focused on providing high-quality jobs for hardworking Georgians, and I thank Microsoft for our growing partnership.”

Microsoft already has roots in the metro area with offices in Alpharetta and Buckhead plus a cloud computing engineering center in Tech Square.
The new Atlantic Station office will focus on artificial intelligence and cloud services. There will also be a retail space.
Microsoft general manager Terrell Cox cited the city’s rich culture and technology innovations for expanding in Atlanta. The company hopes to open the new space by summer 2021.
“Thank you to Microsoft for selecting Atlanta as its newest home. This is a significant expansion that will create hundreds of new jobs and further establish our city as a global leader for software development," Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said in a release.
