ROSWELL, Ga. — A Roswell mother is being remembered after police say she was struck and killed while on a morning jog.
It happened outside of a Roswell fire station on the corner of Market Boulevard and Old Alabama Road on July 13, 2022. Police say a Roswell firefighter was behind the wheel.

“I feel pretty robbed,” said Gigi Jorissen, friend to Bonnie Abraham-Mikami for over 40 years told Channel 2′s Justin Carter. “She was like a sister to me, and I was like a sister to her. We just had this special bond.”
Jorissen says running was like medicine for Abraham-Mikami.
“She was out doing something that she loved,” Jorissen said. “She was very dedicated to running. It was part of her routine.”
The incident happened around 9 a.m. as Abraham-Mikami was using the crosswalk.
As she crossed, police say Ronnie Harper was waiting at the stoplight in a pickup truck. They say he made a left turn and struck her.
Abraham-Mikami later died at the hospital.
“It’s kind of hard to understand how someone whose job is to be there to help people in distress, could have been behind the wheel when this happened,” Abraham-Mikami said.
Harper works as a firefighter for the city of Roswell. The incident happened just feet away from the station.
Neighbor Deborah Guy says she was shocked. She walks her dog nearby all the time.

“It makes you think twice, makes you look twice. It’s very scary,” Guy said. “It could have been me because I walk up there.”
Jorissen said the support on GoFund Me has been tremendous. The community has raised almost $27,000 to help her two sons as they navigate life without their mother.
“I can see her in each one of them,” Jorissen said. “So those memories and her spirit will always live on through them.”
Harper was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield in a crosswalk. He was on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
