WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Family and friends of a veteran who disappeared more than a year ago are hoping a new search this weekend will reveal clues about what happened to him.

Time has not healed the pain of the family and friends of Chase Massner. The young Iraqi war veteran disappeared without a trace 15 months ago and despite some intense search efforts, few clues have been found.

"Bottom line is we have a missing veteran. We have a son, a husband, a father and our main goal has always been to bring him home and that emotion will never end until he's brought back home," Family friend Christine Lemoine told Channel 2's Ross Cavitt.

The desire to find Chase has never waned, which attracted members of the now profit group Missing in America who, along with a group from the Guardian Angels,  rolled into metro Atlanta late Friday to help.

"Everyone has been so dedicated to getting out there and helping this family find someone who is a husband a brother a friend," said Sheilangley Lugo with Missing in America.

The nonprofit group plans on bringing in horse and dog teams to work with the searchers who will re-trace Massner's last know steps in March of 2014, looking for any clue be it good or bad.

They plan on a four-day search over a number of locations urban and rural.

"We already have our areas mapped out we know who were sending and where. There are quite a few areas of interest," said Shawn Wallner with Missing in America.

"By bringing in civilians like Missing in America and Guardian Angels its bringing hope for the family we can get the answers that have been needed for over a year now," Lugo said.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for the expenses involved with the upcoming search.
