TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — The Tybee Police Department released its weekend totals from the unpermitted Orange Crush beach party.
Orange Crush is the unofficial spring break beach party for students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the South at attracted up to 50,000 people to the barrier island.
WJCL, the ABC affiliate in Savannah, said the department made 18 arrests between Friday and Sunday.

Police said they also issued 37 traffic citations and 53 code enforcement violations.
Leaders are already planning ahead to next weekend after rumors of another beach party.
“We are being more aggressive than last weekend. Last weekend, our safety team took the same route they’ve taken in the past to plan,” Mayor Shirley Sessions.

While this past weekend gained a lot of attention, police say they made 36 arrests during the 2018 Orange Crush event.
The event returned to Tybee Island in full force after its relocation to Jacksonville Beach, Florida, two years ago.
