JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned a man charged in connection to the death of a Johns Creek 16-year-old made some of his neighbors uneasy, leading one of them to call the Georgia Bureau of Investigation about his activity months ago.

Shawn Mark Anthony Saleem is accused of giving drugs to Carly Jackson and her friend two weeks ago. The 25-year-old is facing charges of concealing the death of another and contributing to the delinquency of minors.

The mother of a friend told Channel 2′s Mike Petchenik she had concerns about Saleem last fall.

“I hope that Carly’s family gets justice for this whole situation,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

The woman lives in the apartment where Johns Creek police said Saleem dropped off Jackson’s body after she became unresponsive inside of his own apartment. Jackson’s friend alerted everyone.

“She came barreling in the apartment and saying, ‘Help, help, help’ and we all woke up,” the woman said.

“They brought her inside and she was just laying there,” the woman’s son, a friend of Jackson’s, told Petchenik. “Her lips were blue and her skin was ice cold. Her friend tried to give her CPR and it was already too late.”

Police said Jackson and her friend had been partying and possibly having sex with Saleem at his apartment across the street on Feb. 14. When her friend found her unconscious the next morning, she told police that Saleem refused to call for help because he didn’t want to get in trouble for drugs.

She told police Saleem carried Jackson’s body to the breezeway outside of their friend’s apartment and propped her up against a wall.

Saleem was already out of jail on bond for drug charges in Forsyth County and has another case pending in New York, according to investigators.

“I’m just disgusted. It doesn’t surprise me because he worked that way,” the neighbor said.

She told Petchenik that her son’s female friends often complained about Saleem propositioning them for sex.

“I told them to stay away from him,” she said.

The GBI confirmed that its “watchdesk” received the mother’s tip about Saleem in November and said it passed that report to Johns Creek police.

Petchenik asked police what, if anything, the department did about it and a spokesman told him they would look into it and get back to him.

On Wednesday, a judge denied Saleem’s bond so he’ll remain in the Fulton County Jail. He professed his innocence during the bond hearing.
