Netflix will have a new SEC football series. But you won’t see Georgia on it

ATLANTA — Netflix will soon expand its sports documentary projects into the world of college football.

The streaming service says it filmed 10 SEC schools for a new series in the style of its “F1: Drive to Survive” for F1 and “Full Swing” for PGA Tour series.

The yet-untitled series will follow the teams in their battle to win a SEC championship and make the College Football Playoff.

“This behind-the-scenes docuseries will bring all the drama and pageantry of Southeastern Conference Football to a worldwide Netflix audience,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “We are excited about this new delivery of content for SEC fans everywhere.”

Netflix says it offered all 16 SEC football programs the chance to be part of filming the series. The Athletic reports though that Georgia and Alabama were among the schools that declined.

The documentary series will consist of eight, 45-minute episodes and debut next summer.
