ATLANTA — A new fund will help pay for safety improvements at Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta. It’s called the Safe Haven Fund.
The Piedmont Park Conservancy created it in response to increased safety concerns in the park.

The fund will allow the conservancy to pay for safety improvements recommended by the City of Atlanta and other public safety experts.
The conservancy said a donor will match all gifts to the Safe Haven Fund through Sept. 30 up to $100,000.

One of the high-profile cases leading to safety concerns at the park, is the unsolved murder of Katherine Janness. Atlanta police say Janness was stabbed multiples times at the park in late July.
Her dog was also stabbed to death.
