Max is an Explosive Ordinance Detection (EOD) dog and he is trained to detect or alert on 20 different odors.
The K-9 officer and his handler, Deputy Adam Richardson, are part of several other EOD teams throughout the state.
TCSO said those teams are responsible for special event detection patrols, explosive threats, and suspicious package response.
The sheriff’s office announced the retirement of K-9 Stella who served with the TCSO for more than five years. In a Facebook post, TCSO said Stella was a “fixture around the community.”
