AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that they have spoken with the ex-wife of Shamsud-Din Jabbar in Georgia.
While they did not identify his ex-wife, the FBI says they spoke with her in the Augusta area. Agents say both she and her family have been cooperative with law enforcement.
Jabbar, 42, has been named the suspect in a deadly terror attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day. The FBI and police say Jabbar sped down Bourbon Street, killing 14 other people and injuring more than 30 more.

When officers approached Jabbar, he opened fire and shot two officers. Police returned fire, shooting and killing Jabbar.
On Thursday, the FBI said that while Jabbar drove to New Orleans, he posted five videos on his Facebook account pledging his allegiance to ISIS and sharing his last will and testament.
Georgia State University confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Jabbar attended the school from 2015 to 2017 and graduated with a degree in computer information systems.

Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Ashli Lincoln has been digging into Jabbar’s background and discovered financial troubles and messy divorce settlements.
His most recent divorce included a year-long fight with his ex-wife over financial difficulties. Jabbar acknowledged in Texas court documents from Fort Bend County that he couldn’t afford his mortgage because he was behind more than $27,000 in 2022.
Documents also indicate he was ordered to pay more than $3,500 in child support for his three children from his first and third marriages.
She also found that he married his second wife in 2013 in Dekalb County. Court documents show they got a divorce in 2016, citing the marriage was irretrievably broken.
