NEWNAN, Ga. — UPDATE: Newnan’s police chief said a suspect is in custody after hitting and seriously injuring a pedestrian on Saturday.

Newnan Police are looking for a driver that struck a pedestrian on Saturday.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by the driver.
The driver did not stay on the scene. A witness described the driver as a white man with blonde hair and a “military-style” haircut.
The victim was airlifted to the hospital. Police have not identified the victim or his condition
Police believe the car is a two-door Scion TC with a spoiler kit and possible rear-end damage.
The car was last spotted on Freeman Forest Drive, leaving the subdivision and headed toward Mary Freeman Road.
The incident may have been captured on doorbell or other outside surveillance cameras on nearby homes. Police are asking neighbors to check their cameras to see if they may have footage of the incident or the suspect vehicle.

Police received the initial 911 call just before 6 p.m. Therefore, camera footage from around that time could have much-needed evidence on it.
