Newton County School employee tests positive for coronavirus

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — The state health department is investigating who came into contact with a school employee who recently tested positive for the coronavirus.

On March 15, the Gwinnett-Newton-Rockdale Department of Health notified Newton County School System officials that an employee of the district who works at the Newton County Theme School was diagnosed with coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19.

The school system was previously closed as a precaution. Workers are cleaning and disinfecting the schools.
