NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man was stabbed to death in Newton County after a group of people broke into a home and confronted a woman’s ex-partner, deputies said.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office said that on May 5, four people went to a home they weren’t invited to on Georgia Highway 162 in Covington around 8:22 p.m.
According to deputies, the people involved were 35-year-old Margie Love, 18-year-old Anthony McDonald, 39-year-old Randell Whitley and 21-year-old Garrett Blackwell.

Authorities said that the group went to the home to confront Love’s ex-partner.
According to the investigation, a fight broke out and Whitley was stabbed multiple times.
He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Deputies did not say who stabbed Whitley.
Authorities arrested Love and McDonald and charged them with first-degree home invasion, murder and aggravated assault.
Blackwell turned himself in Thursday and was also charged with first-degree home invasion, murder and aggravated assault.
Channel 2′s Audrey Washington talked to Whitley’s father by phone. He said there is more to the story than what police have said, and that his son is the actual victim.
“Anybody who knew him would tell you that he was one of the best men you would ever meet,” Whitley said. “He would do anything to help anybody.”
Whitley’s father said the wrong people were being charged.
Washington talked to deputies, who maintained that the right people are behind bars and that there are no further charges pending in the case.
