COVINGTON, Ga. — Firefighters are continuing to battle a fire in a historic building in downtown Covington.
City officials told Channel 2 Action News that fire crews were called to battle a fire in one of the town’s older buildings.

Firefighters have been battling the fire since around 9 p.m. Friday, according to fire officials.
Crews on the scene confirmed that the fire had so far affected Shelvie Jeans, Shear Bliss, The Dude Store and New Shoez.
No injuries have been reported at this time.

In downtown Covington, some buildings are 200 years old. The building affected by the fire is estimated to be between 100 to 150 years old.
The fire is still active as of 4 a.m. Saturday.
“Keep us all in your prayers, we need it,” Joe Doss, the city of Covington Fire Marshall, told Channel 2 Action News.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
