ATLANTA — The final week of the NFL regular season has arrived and there’s only one more playoff spot up for grabs in the NFC.
It will be either the Atlanta Falcons or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who will get into the playoffs as the winner of the NFC South Division. The other NFC spots have already been locked up, although the seeding hasn’t been decided yet.

The Falcons and Buccaneers have flipped back and forth for the division lead for most of the season. Atlanta sat on top of the division last week, but an overtime loss to the Washington Commanders has set up a win or stay home situation.
The Falcons play the Carolina Panthers. The Buccaneers play the New Orleans Saints. Both games are at 1 p.m.
So here are the scenarios.
- Falcons win + Buccaneers loss = Falcons win NFC South and No. 4 seed
- Falcons loss + Buccaneers win = Falcons are eliminated, Buccaneers win NFC South and No. 4 seed
- Falcons loss + Buccaneers loss = Falcons are eliminated based on tiebreaker factors
As of Friday, NFL.com lists the Falcons with an 11% chance of making the playoffs.
