NLCS MVP Eddie Rosario agrees to 2-year, $18 million contract with Braves

ATLANTA — At least one MVP will be returning to the Atlanta Braves this season.

The team announced Wednesday that Eddie Rosario, who won the National League Championship Series most valuable player award, signed a 2-year deal with the organization.

The contract is worth $18 million and includes a club option for 2024 season.

The Braves acquired Rosario from Cleveland last year. The Puerto Rican outfielder made a splash in 33 games for the Braves and hit his stride in the postseason.

Rosario appeared in all 16 games during the Braves World Series run and won the NLCS MVP against Los Angeles Dodgers. In the series win, he went 14-for-25 with .560 batting average and three home runs.

This is the third big move the Atlanta Braves have announced over the past 48 hours.

On Monday, the team traded for Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson. By signing the Gwinnett County native, it signaled the likely end of the Freddie Freeman era in Atlanta.

On Tuesday, the team signed another Gwinnett County native and former Berry College pitcher Collin McHugh.
