ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Three men are under arrest and charged with homicide after three simultaneous raids overnight Tuesday.
Michael Jamar Dawson, of Lithonia, Dontravious Mahone, of Riverdale, and Jemal Gines, of Decatur, were all taken into custody.
Police say these suspects were under surveillance for hours before four different agencies pounced overnight.
"It’s those hundreds of man-hours put together by these detectives that ultimately led us to believe these are the three responsible," said Officer George Gordon, with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.
Investigators say the men broke in and shot Kadarius Medlock in the back of the head on April 21 at a home off of Wade Creek Road.
Gordon says the Atlanta fugitive task-force and DeKalb County Sheriff's deputies helped Alpharetta detectives arrest Dawson in Lithonia and Gines in Decatur.
Detectives worked with Clayton County SWAT to capture Mahone in Riverdale.
"They spent literally hundreds of hours working together with our agencies, and a number of hours on stakeout to observe these individuals," Gordon told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik.
Gordon said detectives are still piecing together the suspects' relationship with Medlock.
"We don't know if it was absolute random, targeted, or if they knew other or had some dealings in the past," Gordon said.
Neighbors told Petchenik the murder shook their quiet street. They were relieved to hear of the arrests.
"Hopefully, if they're guilty, the justice system will do its job. See what happens," said Alpharetta resident, Mike Flowers.
All three men are being held at the Fulton County jail awaiting their first appearance in court.
