NORTH FULTON, Ga. — After 10 years, the Atlanta Humane Society in Alpharetta is closing soon.
The facility will be sold and a new facility will be built in North Fulton County which will be better suited to address the needs of pets and their owners, according to President and CEO of the Atlanta Humane Society Cal Morgan.
Morgan said the new facility will be smaller than the current location at Mansell Road.

Part of the decision to move facilities was the ability to sell the property of the Alpharetta facility at an above-market price, according to Morgan.
“While we will miss this facility and its location in the heart of North Fulton, we are excited to be able to reinvest in these communities in a way that will impact and save more pets and keep more families together with their companions than ever before,” Morgan said.
Morgan said as the organization plans for the new North Fulton Animal Center, it will continue to make sure there are ‘robust opportunities for adoption, fostering, and volunteering.

The organization asks for people to complete a short survey to let them know what specific needs are and how they believe Atlanta Humane can continue to best serve local residents.
