ATLANTA — It’s the last full day of campaigning for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District race, and candidates took their messages to the voters Monday in one final push to get support.
A Channel 2 Action News/Landmark Communications poll shows Democrat Jon Ossoff with a comfortable lead.
This race to replace former Rep. Tom Price has garnered national and even international attention as some perceive it as a referendum on the first 100 days of the Trump presidency.
Even President Donald Trump weighed in Monday morning, tweeting, “the super Liberal Democrat in the Georgia Congressional (SP) race tomorrow wants to protect criminals, allow illegal immigration and raise taxes!”
Ossoff needs 50 percent of the vote plus one to win the election outright.
Polls show he probably can’t do that, but he still signaled confidence he could.
“There’s a path to victory tomorrow,” Ossoff said at a campaign event in his Marietta office Monday. “No one knows how it will turn out, and we’ll be ready for anything, including to fight and win a runoff if necessary.”
Republicans Karen Handel and Dan Moody campaigned inside an Alpharetta shopping mall Monday afternoon.

Polls show Handel in second place with Moody, Bob Gray and Judson Hill behind her.
"(We're) very energized," Handel said. "Feel very enthusiastic and cautiously optimistic for tomorrow.
Nothing is over until it's over and the polls close."
“It’s been just as much fun as the first five months,” Moody said. “This has been a thrill, a great opportunity and I am so excited about being on the ballot to replace Tom Price.”
Republican Judson Hill campaigned and worked the phones at his Sandy Springs office Monday.
If no one can win a majority, the top two candidates will meet in a June runoff.
