Drivers be aware: Another lane is shifting for Georgia 400/285 interchange

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Drivers on Georgia 400 will notice changes in traffic patterns as they start the work week. All three northbound lanes just outside the perimeter shifted Sunday.

The change does not close any lanes but just moves them to the right and back again, after the Abernathy Road exit.

Triple Team Traffic’s Mike Shields said the impact should be minimal, but “is going to cause slight delays as drivers get used to the slight shift to the right, so will see some brake lights,” he said.

The shift is part of the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Transform 285-Georgia 400 project that has taken years to make over the interchange.

GDOT also confirmed that the same shift on the southbound lanes between the North Springs MARTA station and Hammond Drive will take place next weekend.

The biggest impacts to drivers and further lane closures and shifts are expected to come this summer, starting in June. GDOT said most of work will be finished and all new lanes, ramps, and flyovers will open by the end of the year.
