SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A Sandy Springs police officer was injured when his patrol vehicle was hit by a suspected DUI driver as he was conducting a traffic stop.
The accident happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday. The officer was inside his car with his emergency lights activated on the right shoulder when a car plowed in to his car.

The officer is still hospitalized. His condition and identity have not been released.
The driver was identified as Khouri Smith, 24. He was charged with DUI, violation of the move-over law, open container and reckless driving.
