Father says woman killed in accident on GA 400 was his best friend

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The father of the woman killed in an accident along Georgia 400 last week says his daughter’s death had left a huge void in the family.

Julieanna Shedrawy died Thursday after a tire came off a truck and flew into her windshield.

B.J. Aleksinas will now have to do what no parent should ever have to - bury his child.

'"She was just my Jules, my best friend," Aleksinas told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik. "She was just an all-around great kid. It's hard to wrap our heads around and it's going to be awhile."

Shedrawy was driving to work last Thursday, as she did every morning.

Sandy Springs police say a wheel came off a pickup truck driving north on GA 400 and went through her windshield.

"I don't even know what the odds were for this to happen," Aleksinas said.

Aleksinas beamed about the wife and mother of two with what he called an infectious personality.

"I don't even know where to start," he said. "She was always happy, smiling. I don't think I have any picture of her not smiling."

A smile, Aleksanis said, she shared with anyone she met.

"That was her life's mission -- to make people smile and make them happy, you know?" Aleksinas told Petchenik.

Aside from work and family, Aleksinas said Shedrawy volunteered in her community.

"Any kind of cause, she was there, whether it was giving money or herself," Aleksinas said. "Nobody is going to forget her.”

Shedrawy's mother said her daughter was a devout Christian who instilled those values in her two daughters.

Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for those girls.

Shedrawy's funeral is scheduled for Thursday.
