SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A customer who bought an expensive watch has a warning that even spending a lot of money on a high-end item doesn't mean you're always satisfied. Now he's fighting to get his money back.

Scott Miller told Channel 2's Dave Huddleston that he bought a very expensive watch from an online luxury store in Sandy Springs to reward himself, then learned it may have been stolen.

“I wanted to memorialize this accomplishment in my life by getting a nice watch,” Miller said.

Miller said he bought the $13,000 Rolex from luxury online jewelry retailer Crown and Caliber in Sandy Springs.

He said it wasn’t keeping the correct time, so he sent it back to the store. He told Huddleston that the store forgot to secure the caseback of the watch and water got inside.

“Long story short, they offered me a concession on a nicer watch,” Miller said.

The store gave him an Audemars Pieguet.

“I purchased that watch for good value from a supposedly good dealer,” Miller said.

But he said soon, that watch started acting up.

Miller told Huddleston that he sent it to the manufacturer, who sent him a letter saying the luxury watch he bought appeared to be stolen.

"It’s like a hierological curse. It’s one problem after another,” Miller said.

Huddleston called Crown and Caliber’s CEO, Hamilton Powell, on Friday. Powell said the company has bent over backward to make sure Miller was treated fairly, even offering him a full refund.

The CEO said Crown and Caliber is also working to see if the watch was stolen since no police report was ever filed.

"Right now, the brand is in the process of verifying if whether it is (stolen) or not," Powell said.

In the meantime, Miller has hired an attorney.

“This is a one-of-a-kind-type case. I’ve never had a case like this before,” Miller’s attorney said.

Because there is no police report, Miller will have to wait until the manufacturer finishes its investigation, which should be done in about 10 days.

The company said once again, it offered Miller a full refund on the watch.
