NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Roswell Road is partially reopening after a water main break caused a sinkhole Wednesday afternoon.

The repairs are impacting the road from Northridge Drive to Hightower Trail.  The location is right in front of the Chick-fil-A for those familiar with the area.

Two southbound lanes and one northbound lane are now open to drivers on Thursday morning.

Channel 2's Mike Petchenik and NewsChopper 2 were on the scene for Channel 2 Action News at 6 where water was gushing out into the road.

"Another day in Georgia with trouble on the roads. Sinkholes, bridges, it's our forte," driver Patty Jerome said.

Many people said they were essentially trapped in a grocery store parking lot by the water main break on one side and impossible-to-get-through traffic on the other.

The water was shut off around 8:30 p.m.

Crews worked through the night to repair the water line and the road. The water main was capped early Thursday morning.

The City of Sandy Springs tweeted if this part of Roswell Road is part of your regular route, "Please rethink your morning commute."

The City of Atlanta said two apartment complexes and nine fire hydrants were impacted by the break, but water service has since been restored.
