SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Parents and teachers pushing to keep two schools in Fulton County open got a chance to see a map for the first time that shows what redistricting could look like if those schools were to close.
Channel 2′s Veronica Griffin was at the meeting in Sandy Springs in north Fulton County Monday evening.
She talked to parent Jennifer Wilson about the map the district presented during the meeting.

“It did not feel great,” Wilson said.
The map shows what redistricting would look like with Spalding Drive and Parklane Elementary Schools off the grid.
That not-so-great feeling was also expressed by the more than 100 in attendance including parents, teachers, and community supporters who want to see both schools stay open.
Fulton Country District leaders told the crowd that the map isn’t approved just yet, but cites low enrollment as the main catalyst for needing to close both schools.
If they do close them, the map shows some students would move to Woodland Elementary and others to Heards Ferry Elementary.
Channel 2 talked to parents from Parklane Elementary at their meeting last week.
They expressed what Spalding Drive parents echoed this week - that the schools are the cornerstone of the community, and things are moving too fast.
“It’s very rushed, Wilson said. “Generally when these type of things happen there’s a five-year plan and it’s better understanding for the community and they’ve given us about four months to make a major change in our life.”
The school board will meet in mid-January to decide whether to move forward with the redistricting map or not.
