ALPHARETTA, Ga. — An active manhunt is underway following a Milton home invasion that led to a middle school miles away being put on lockdown.
In the air and on the ground, Alpharetta and Milton police raced to find at least two home invasion suspects in a search that triggered two lockdowns at nearby schools on Monday.
Spencer Page lives near Haynes Middle School where Alpharetta police say two suspects abandoned a stolen escalade after a short pursuit at around noon.
“It’s been a little chaotic,” Page told Channel 2′s Matt Johnson. “This is usually a quiet neighborhood, not a lot goes on over here, so this is a first honestly.”
It triggered a lockdown at Haynes Bridge Middle and later at nearby New Prospect Elementary.
Police say the suspects never ran toward the school and instead ran toward Big Creek Greenway.
“We know there’s two suspects, but there may be more,” said Capt. Jakai Braithwaite with the Alpharetta Police Department.

It was at around 11:40 a.m. when Milton police say the suspects broke into a home on Highgrove Club Drive and stole the victim’s Escalade.
Alpharetta police picked up the SUV near the middle school and started a chase that ended at the school parking lot.
They have a description of one of the suspects.
“He has tattoos on his chest, black sweatpants, he’s sweating, he’s wet because he’s been going through the creek and all these other things,” Braithwaite said.
A spokesperson for Fulton County Schools told Johnson that parents were able to safely pick up their children at the affected schools.
“There never was an immediate threat to the schools,” Fulton County Schools spokesman Brian Noyes said.
One suspect is shirtless with chest tattoos, and the other is a bald man with a light complexion, according to police.
Police have not said they consider these suspects armed and dangerous.
