NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police released dashcam video showing the aftermath of an accident in which a teen was hit by a car while skateboarding. Police say the driver was drunk.
Video showed police questioning Christopher Caldwell, 42, moments after they say his pickup collided with a teen on a skateboard in Johns Creek.
Captain Chris Byers says the impact sent the 16-year-old victim flying to the pavement.
"He suffered head injuries, some type of brain swelling, has already undergone two surgeries," Byers said.
As officers questioned Caldwell, Byers says they could smell alcohol on him.
"Originally he told investigators he had nothing, and that began to move up to one or two several hours before the accident," Caldwell said.
A police report says officers found an empty Coors Light can in the back seat, and Byers says Caldwell failed a sobriety test.
The teen's friend, Christian Cullen, says the victim didn't deserve what happened to him.
Cullen says his friend is recovering, but is in a lot of pain.
