NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has confirmed a second person has died a day after car plowed into MARTA bus stop.

Investigators said a woman swerved to keep from hitting a MARTA bus and lost control of her car, striking three people and then hitting a telephone pole.

Channel 2’s Rikki Klaus was there as Georgia Power remained at the wreck site late Thursday night repairing the pole.

Witnesses of the crash told Klaus they are still stunned by the crash.

"I heard a loud screeching of tires, and a loud boom," said Drew Nolen.

Nolen was working at the Roswell Tap on Alpharetta Highway when he heard a deadly crash.

"I saw a woman run over, and I followed her, and we came up on three people lying on the ground. Two of them were kind of screaming and asking for help. The other wasn't saying anything at all," Nolen said.

Investigators say a woman in her 60s was driving the car.

"She was traveling behind a MARTA bus. Apparently, she attempted to avoid a rear-end collision with the bus, swerved off the roadway, and hit three pedestrians that were waiting at the bus stop for the MARTA," said Officer Lisa Holland with the Roswell Police Department.

Holland said a man just about to get on the bus died. He was identified as 55-year-old Curtis Freeman.

The identity of the second victim, a woman, has not yet been released.

"This ended tragically for this person," Holland said.

Nolen said he just wanted to help.

"All I did was put my hand on the guy's back. He was laying on his stomach and just said you're going to be OK. The ambulance is on the way. I'll do what I can to help you out," Nolen said.

The ambulance transported the victims to North Fulton Hospital.

Dennis Cheshier heard the sirens from inside the restaurant.

"Feeling sorry for the victims and even the lady, the driver, she didn't want all this. It's just sad," Cheshier said.

Investigators at the scene spoke with the driver, who they say has been cooperative.

They tried to recreate the crash to figure out exactly why the wreck happened. There is no word yet on the cause.
