DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. — Dawson County students call him “Officer Jolly.” He’s known for his kind heart, support in the community and more importantly the love for the students he protects.
So it isn’t a surprise to see the lengths the north Georgia school resource officer went to honor the Class of 2020 seniors.
Rogers purchased and delivered yard signs to 270 Dawson County High School seniors.
“It is taking him a few days, but the effort is heroic for these students,” said Bethany Bennett, whose daughter Kaitlyn is a senior.

Each sign congratulates the senior class and “Officer Jolly” wrote a personalized message on the back of the signs. Bennett said it’s hard to find someone who supports the community more than Rogers.
“He is not only an awesome resource officer. He is also a valuable member of the community,” Bennett said. “He can always be found at sporting events supporting the students of Dawson County.”

Rogers wanted to keep the signs a secret, so the seniors and their parents could be surprised. But Bennett said she and her daughter caught him in the act of kindness.
“He said we were the only ones to catch him putting them up,” Bennett said.
