Surveyors with the National Weather Service confirmed this weekend that three tornadoes touched down in Georgia on New Year’s Day.
Several tornado warnings were issued on Friday afternoon, which Severe Weather Team 2 tracked as the storms moved through.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon said two EF-0 tornadoes were confirmed in northwest Crawford County and southwest Monroe County.

The Crawford tornado was on the ground for a mile and hit peaked winds of 75 mph, according to NWS. The southwest Monroe tornado was also on the ground for about a mile with 85 mph winds.
The strongest tornado of the day was an EF-1 in east Monroe County, where a mobile home was flipped on its side. The tornado touch down about eight miles southeast of Forsyth, Georgia with estimated peak winds of 95 mph.
It had a path length of 3.5 miles and was 200 yards wide, according to NWS. One person was reported injured and there were no fatalities.
