House fire that killed 4 people was intentionally set, South Fulton investigators say

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Fire investigators now believe a house fire that killed four people, including a 7-year-old, was intentionally set based on new evidence.

The house fire happened off Oswego Trail on Oct. 19. Twelve people from two families were inside the home. Eight people escaped the fire, but four of them died, including Hailey Harris and her grandmother.

In October, family members told Channel 2 Action News that they believed the fire may have been sparked by a faulty outlet. However, South Fulton fire said Wednesday that it appeared someone set the fire.

Fire investigators have more than one person of interest, but did not provide other details on who they are.

Officials are offering a $10,000 reward for any information. Anyone with information is urged to call the hotline at 800-282-5804.

Two of the victims, both adults, were recovered that day. It took two days to find Harris and her grandmother’s bodies in the rubble.

Fire crews spent hours carefully navigating the unstable house, searching for any remains. Firefighters said the rear of the home collapsed as the fire raged, possibly burying Harris and her grandmother.
