BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Otis Redding III, the son of legendary Georgia singer who became a musician himself, has died. He was 59.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed to Channel 2′s ABC affiliate WGXA-TV that Redding died at a Macon hospital.
The news station reports that the Redding family is preparing a statement to release later today. His cause of death has not been released.

Redding III followed in his father’s footsteps as a musician and performed with his brothers as “The Reddings.” He also volunteered for local charities, including Meals on Wheels of Middle Georgia, according to his Facebook page.

Channel 2 Action News spoke to Redding III back in 2018 after his battle with prostate cancer.
“Any time you hear the word you have a life-threatening disease like cancer, it gets to you mentally,” Redding III said.
He underwent a successful surgery at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta that year.
