Over 100,000 pass through Hartsfield-Jackson after Thanksgiving

ATLANTA — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was packed as several Thanksgiving travelers returned home Sunday.

Some people told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes the long security lines led to missed flights.

Nearly 100,000 people made their way through Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on the busiest travel day of the year.

"This morning it looked like someone was giving away something for free, just being honest," traveler Tycarla Horace said. "There were so many people in here."

Horace says she never made it to her gate. She says she's never seen security lines longer than they were Sunday at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Horace told Fernandes she is planning to spend the night at the airport and will head back to Alabama first thing in the morning.

Andrea Smith heard about the delays so she showed up to the airport four hours before her flight.

"Just anticipating it would be a lot worse than it is, we're really glad it's not," Smith said.
