Over 2 million cans of coconut water recalled in 29 states, including Georgia

ATLANTA — Millions of cans of coconut water are being pulled from shelves across the U.S., including in Georgia.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has an ongoing recall for 12 can cartons of Jarritos coconut water.

In total, 169,438 cases (2,033,256 cans) have been recalled across 29 states.

The states include Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas and South Carolina, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio, and Oklahoma.

The FDA says the seal on the lid of the cans could become compromised.

The product could be affected by harmful bacteria, posing potential health risks. Officials said, though no illnesses have been reported, the recalling company has acted out of an abundance of caution.
