Parts of Georgia to be under freeze warnings, watches

ATLANTA — Get ready for a blast of cool air this weekend.

A Freeze Warning goes into effect at 8 p.m. Friday and runs through Saturday morning for Rabun County in far northeast Georgia.

The lows Saturday will be in the lower 40s for much of metro Atlanta but near freezing in north Georgia. Tender plants could be vulnerable and should be protected.

A Freeze Watch goes into effect 2 a.m. Sunday and runs through 9 a.m. for the northern mountain counties and eastern Georgia. Temperatures will drop to near freezing.

The chance of rain will return Monday and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday.

Dogwood Festival forecast

If you're headed to the Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park, make sure you bring a light jacket.
 
Walls says it will be sunny and clear but gusty. The high Saturday will be 60 degrees in Atlanta but will feel much colder because of the strong wind.
