Pat Houston says family was going to have intervention for Bobbi Kristina Brown

Pat Houston says she was like a second mother to Bobbi Kristina.

ATLANTA — An aunt of Bobbi Kristina Brown is speaking out for the first time since her niece's death.

Pat Houston says she was like a second mother to Bobbi Kristina.

She says the family was planning an intervention.

Brown never regained consciousness after she was found face-down in a bathtub in her Roswell townhouse in January.

Recent legal filings claim Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend -- Nick Gordon -- had injected her with a toxic mixture and then put her in the tub.

Gordon denies those allegations.

In a deposition, a friend claims the daughter of singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown had used illegal drugs about a week earlier.

Pat Houston spoke to "Entertainment Tonight" about her niece's problems.

"When we really found out Krisi was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it. It just came a little too late. I really tried to show her you don't have to be in a situation if something's bothering you or you're not happy," Houston told "Entertainment Tonight."

When asked what she wishes she could tell her niece, Houston answered "you have to love yourself."

You can watch the Pat Houston interview on "Entertainment Tonight" at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 2.
