3 GA high school football players hailed as heroes for helping save person, pets from fire

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Three Paulding County high school football players are being hailed as heroes after they helped save a child from a burning home.

South Paulding High School Assistant Athletic Coordinator Jason Nash tweeted about the boys' efforts Saturday. The teens are all members of the freshman football team.

Nash said that players Ryan Seymour, Kai Keller and Pearson Blair were driving around the Georgian neighborhood in a golf cart when they saw a house on fire. They didn’t hesitate to spring into action.

Blair ran inside the home and got a child who lived there and a Great Dane out safely. Keller and Seymour grabbed water hoses to try to put out the fire.

The boys said the blaze was so hot that it broke the windows.

Nash said he has worked to teach his players that “our communities are who we are,” and the teens’ actions that day reflected that.

“These three young men embodied that message by reacting selflessly, courageously and heroically,” Nash wrote to Channel 2 Action News. “My wife and I as well as our entire school and football program are honored to have young men like this in the Spartan Family.”
