Homeowner says she had several space heaters running before house fire in Paulding County

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Officials in Paulding County are trying to figure out what started a house fire on Saturday morning, but the homeowner says she has an idea.

Channel 2′s Eryn Rogers was at the home on Yosemite Lane during Channel 2 Action News at Noon where the fire was mostly out, but crews were still on scene investigating.

Firefighters were called out around 9:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found white smoke coming out of the front door and more smoke in the back.

They say the home is badly damaged, but no one was injured.

The homeowner told Rogers that she believes the space heaters she had running before the fire may have been the cause.

“My heater in the house, they are out. So I was in the house without heat, so I got maybe three or four space heaters going,” the woman who didn’t want to be identified said.

The fire department says she had a working smoke alarm in the house that was monitored by her alarm company. The company called 911, and that’s how crews responded so quickly.
