PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — When Sabrina and Rodney Crawford moved into their home on Buchanan Highway two weeks ago, they thought they were getting a fresh start.
“Like our dream house,” Rodney Crawford told Channel 2′s Michael Doudna. “We wanted a place like this forever, we’ve been married for 25 years and we finally got it.”
According to a fundraiser set up by the family, the couple bought their new house two and a half weeks ago in Paulding County.

The family said the house marked a reset for the couple as the year had been full of challenges due to Sabrina Crawford losing her dad and job.
To get homeowners insurance, the couple needed to make several repairs within the home. Family members did not say what those repairs were.
During severe storms that moved through north Georgia Sunday, a tree in front of the house fell across the structure and crashed into the ceiling.

“It happened so fast I didn’t really have time to think,” Rodney said “It tore all the rafters out of the side of the porch and it’s leaking in the living room.”
Now the porch leans from the impact, supported by a temporary wooden beam. The metal carport stands nearby are bent and dented.
Wednesday, Rodney was working to remove the tree and get a tarp over the roof before the next set of storms hit.
The family says they will need help in fixing the roof. If you would like to help with repairs, you can donate HERE.
