3 arrested in Cobb pedestrian fatal hit-and-run

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Three people have been arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in Mableton.

The crash happened about 1 a.m. Sunday near a Chevron station at Factory Shoals Road and Mableton Parkway. Police said 36-year-old Joshua Heath Chellew, of Mableton, was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital after the crash.

Cobb County police arrested Johnathan Anthony, 18; Antonio Pass, 18; and Jekari Strozier, 19.

Police are still looking for a fourth suspect, Kemonta Bonds, 18, in connection with the hit-and-run. All of the suspects are residents of Mableton.

Longtime residents of the area told Channel 2's Liz Artz that Chellew was jumped by a group of men right before he was hit. They said the victim was getting beat up when he tried to run away and ran into the street. Police have not confirmed that story.

Investigators spent the weekend combing through surveillance video from neighboring businesses to find leads in the case.

All four suspects are facing charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Gang Act. Three of the four suspects are being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
