Perdue, Loeffler say they will support $2,000 COVID-19 stimulus payment

ATLANTA — Georgia’s two senators are voicing their support of an increase in stimulus payments to Americans amid the coronavirus pandemic.

David Perdue tweeted Tuesday morning his support of $2,000 payments.

Kelly Loeffler was on Fox News Tuesday morning where she said she will support $2,000 stimulus checks.

Tuesday morning, President Trump reiterated his call for $2,000 stimulus payments.

The Democratic two Senate candidates, Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock, both call on $2,000 stimulus payments.

On Monday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill calling for an increase in direct payments to millions of Americans. The vote came a day after President Donald Trump signed into law a $900 billion COVID-19 stimulus bill that included $600 direct payments to millions of Americans.

Sen. Chuck Schumer says he will try to get a vote Tuesday on a bill to boost direct stimulus payments from $600 to $2,000 for millions of Americans, even though the measure appears to have little chance of surviving the Republican-led Senate.
