Pink Pony legal battle ends with decision to repaint

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A fight to run a strip club out of town is over.

The Brookhaven City Council and the owners of the Pink Pony have struck a deal that ends an 18-month legal battle that went all the way to the Georgia Supreme Court.

Provisions of the deal require the strip club’s owners to cover the city’s legal costs of $283,000. They must also pay $255,000 for police, and give up property for a new city park.

The owners must also repaint the business with “earth tones.”

“I’m disappointed that we struck a deal with a strip club,” said Brookhaven City Council member Rebecca Chase Williams.

She is glad, however, that the battle is finally over.

“The vast majority of people were tired of the litigation. Even the ones who wanted to shut them down,” said Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis.

Despite a new city ordinance aimed at banning strip clubs, the Pink Pony will be allowed to stay open for six more years.

“We walked out of there saying, “Ah, we’re in business. We’d like to have more,” said company attorney Aubrey Villines.
