Plane crashes near Lake Hartwell, killing 4

STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga. — The Stephens County Sheriff's Office says a light plane has crashed near Lake Hartwell, killing four people.
 
The Sheriff's Office said the wreck happened after 4 p.m.
 
Witnesses reported seeing the wing fall of the plane causing it to fall out of the sky.

The plane has been identified as a Piper PA-32. The FAA says the plane originated in Warsaw, IN and was headed to the airport in Clemson, SC.

The NTSB is now investigating the crash.
 
Investigators said the bodies were found inside the fuselage of the plane near Mt. Tabor Landing on the South Carolina side of Lake Hartwell.
