Police investigate bomb threat on Georgia Military College campus

FAIRBURN, Ga. — The Fairburn Police Department is investigating a bomb threat at the Georgia Military College.

After someone called 911 from Union City Tuesday evening to say there was a bomb on campus, a police officer and his K-9 spent the night patrolling the campus.

Students were evacuated from part of the campus around 6 p.m. while police investigated the threat.

Police shut down West Broad Street near the campus for three hours because of the incident.

Investigators told Channel 2's Craig Lucie they also shut down the CSX line nearby along with the MARTA bus route that goes near the campus.

A nearby car dealer told Lucie his business had to be shut down, costing them business.

School officials told Lucie that Tuesday was the first day of finals for the summer semester. One student said he thinks a student with text anxiety could have been behind the threat.

In the end, police said nothing was found. Officers are now trying to locate the person who made the call.
