ATLANTA — A normal ride-share turned upside down Tuesday morning after someone started shooting inside an Uber. The shots sent people running across Interstate 75 and shut down ramps.
Police told Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway five to six people were taking an Uber from the Diamond strip club off Northside Drive.
The group got inside a black SUV, which headed down the I-75 southbound ramp. Once they got on the interstate, a fight between the passengers broke out. Someone fired shots inside the SUV.
Police said the Uber driver stopped on I-75 and everyone jumped out and ran across both lanes on the interstate.
The Uber driver ended up at the Four Seasons off 14th Street in Midtown and called police.
“He wasn’t sure, obviously, what was going on behind him,” Capt. William Ricker said. “Once everybody jumped out and ran, he saw a gun inside the car and blood, and then he drove off the interstate and called the police.”
A 21-year-old man was shot in his arms and legs and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Holloway spotted several bullet holes and shattered glass as officers searched the SUV. Police found the gun that was used still inside.
