ATLANTA — Police have identified a man shot and killed outside a restaurant in southwest Atlanta.
A police spokeswoman said Kenneth Davis, 32, of Baltimore, was shot in the head in the shared parking lot of the restaurant and a Chevron gas station on Northside Drive just before noon Monday. The location is just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
News Chopper 2 hovered over the busy strip. Investigators told Channel 2's Rachel Stockman that Davis was pumping gas in his SUV when he was shot. Investigators do not believe it was a random attack.
For hours, crime scene tape surrounded the gas station, just a block from the Georgia Dome. Neighbors watched for hours as police interviewed witnesses and waited for a medical examiner to arrive.
'It really scares me. It makes me want to watch myself when I walk to the store at night," said neighbor Jimmy Watson.
Police are still searching for the assailants involved and witnesses at the nearby stores said they saw one man run off, but were not able to get a good description.
"We still we don't know why he was shot or why he was targeted. We hope to learn that in the near future," said Atlanta Police Commander Paul Guerrucci.
