ATLANTA — Police are investigating a deadly shooting on a major Atlanta interstate Wednesday morning.
We first told you about the shooting, which caused major traffic back ups, on Channel 2 Action News This Morning.
The shooting on Interstate 85 south at Buford Highway in Midtown shut down all lanes for nearly four hours before reopening around 9:15 a.m.

Police said that one man was shot in the head and was killed. Another person was shot and injured.
Police said it all started with an argument that escalated to a shooting. The car was riddled with bullet holes.

Atlanta Police Capt. Jason Smith said it’s unfortunate that it ruined the morning commute for a lot of people. But, he said they had to take proper steps to collect the evidence.
Smith walked Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway through why an incident like this takes a while to process.
“We have to process everything appropriately and there’s steps that we need to take and unfortunately those steps take time and the safety of everybody involved is paramount,” Smith said. “So in order to do that we have to shut it down unfortunately.”
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
